This Keyboard instrument has held a central position in professional and domentic music since the latter part of the 18th century. The piano made its first appearance in the early 1700’s in a highly developed form and as the result of the work of a single individual - Bartholomeo Cristofori, keeper of the instruments at the Medici Court in Florence.
