To celebrate her 50th birthday, legendary percussionist Evelyn Glennie asked her favorite composers to write short solo works as performable gifts. Chen Yi responded with Colors of Naobo, a tour de force study in rhythm and sonority for a pair of small Chinese hand cymbals. ChenŒÍs inventive approach uses an interplay to combine 6 different ways of creating sounds from the pair of cymbals.
