Description
Gypsy Dance, a lively, spirited dance in the style of Liszt's famous Hungarian Rhapsodies, is written in a vibrant, Romantic style. In the A section, a 16th–note R.H. melody speeds energetically along, accompanied by staccato left-hand brokent chords. Then, another melody enters, this time shared by both the L.H. and R.H. In the B section, the key shifts from minor mode to Major, for a sudden color change. This exciting solo is thoroughly satisfying, and would make an excellent festival or competition selection. Hal Leonard Student Piano Library Level 5 (Intermediate); Allegro animato tempo; 2/4 meter/ 16th–note passagework in R.H.; but of moderate difficulty; key of E minor; 2 pages.
