Ligetis thrilling Lux Aeterna achieved global fame following its use on the soundtrack to Stanley Kubricks 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey. For 16-part Choir SATB, the work deploys Ligetis technique of micropolyphony and uses cluster chords to create a densely buzzing haze of sound.
