Description
Schubert Trio for Piano, Violin and Violoncello in B-flat major Op.99 D 898 (Score & Parts)
Nothing is known of the compositional history of Schubert’s Trio in B-flat major (D 898, Op.99) nor why it was composed or anything regarding its first performance. There are no references to the work in any biographical documents and it is not commented on in the numerous memoirs of his friends. Schubert’s working manuscript no longer exists (it was not even among his posthumous papers) so out of necessity, we turned to the first printed edition of 1836 by A. Diabelli and Co., Vienna.
