Description

This anthology features 17 original works for guitar written between 1923 and 1973 dedicated to the legendary Spanish guitarist Andres Segovia, revised and with fingerings added by Frederic Zigante. Starting in the 1920s, when there was little interest in music for the guitar, Segovia began asking composers to write original works for the instrument, an endeavour that would not cease until the end of his long career in 1987. The expressive power and musical intelligence of the performer elicited an immediate response. Here, we have published some of the highest-quality examples, works that would completely change the history of the guitar, and the character of the repertoire written expressly for it.
