In this solo piano piece from 2000, Peter Sculthorpe recalled his childhood in Tasmania, and the travelling fairs that would set up each year opposite his family shop. For a penny, he would select a song from the fairs old jukebox. Song for a Penny exists in two versions: the full 2-and-a-half-minute work, and a shorter version was created for the ABRSMs Spectrum series.
