Song of the Earth is a new telling of the well-known story of The Emperor and the Nightingale. It is suitable for performers aged 9 - 18 and can be done as a dramatic cantata or a fully-staged piece. There are 11 songs - but the piece can be shortened a little or lengthened by the addition of dance or pentatonic interludes composed by the performers. The piece also lends itself to masks and puppets.
