Written in 2004 for the remarkable Ladue 6th Grade Middle School Band in St. Louis, Missouri, *Stormchasers* is designed to introduce students to the concept of cut time. The piece alternates between sections with 4/4 and cut time markings. The piece opens with a rhythmic motif that appears in almost every measure of the piece.
