Known as the “Mourning Symphony”, this arrangement of one of Haydn’s “Sturm und Drang” (Storm and Stress) symphonies is faithful to the original and is a great example of this turbulent and dramatic style. Melodic and textural interest is shared extensively throughout the parts. Haydn certainly gave all his musicians a feast and plenty to do as they entertained Prince Nikolaus Esterházy in his remote Austrian palace in 1772. This arrangement includes a violin 3 and fully realised keyboard parts. 4' 45".
