The Angels was commissioned for the traditional service of Nine Lessons and Carols in Kings College Cambridge on Christmas Eve, 1994. Harvey uses Lyricist Bishop Taylor in a beautiful melody sung by one choir, accompanied by a second wordless choir providing harmonic support.
