Windependence – Master Level (Grade 4)
Volver a la Montaña (“Return to the Mountain”) is the second movement of the four-movement suite Islas y Montañas andis based on folk tunes of the Quechua (Inca) people of Ecuador, Peru an d Bolivia. To invoke the sound of the mountains, trumpets are muted, flutes use harmonics and a bombo (Andes drum) is used. The optional harp part may be played by marimba and vibes or with a synthesizer.
