Britten wrote many fine pieces for youthful performers, and it is characteristic that his last completed work should be for young peoples chorus and orchestra, a kind of Purcellian Ode in celebration of the Queens Silver Jubilee. It is a sparkling, joyous work in five movements, rewarding and fun to perform.
