Wide World was especially composed to be simultaneously performed at the Barbican in London and at The Sage Gateshead bytwo groups of performers. It celebrates the idea of finding your voice in more senses than just the singing voice, since young people have their whole lives before them: to get the most out of all the opportunities and possibilities the world has to offer, its always best if you feel confident in yourself and the friends and family around you. The song was commissioned by Sing Up, whose slogan is helping kids find their voice. This is what Wide World - and singing in a group - is all about, gaining strength and courage from those around you, discovering who you really are and what you want to achieve. Wide World is full of promise and hope, inspired by the optimism of young people. Its words were written by Charles Hart, who wrote the lyrics for Andrew Lloyd Webbers The Phantom of the Opera.
