Schwarzer Tanzer was written for Christopher Boatwright one of the first black dancers with the Stuttgart Ballet. Boatwright wanted a piece of music that could be choreographed, Nigel Wood wishing to avoid ethnic music clichí©s (despite the title, which means black dancer) created this Germanic style fusion of Weil and Oompah band.
